- Earned her Masters in Educational Psychology from Texas A&M University in 1987
- Experience working with the military population through her internship with the Veteran's Administration in Honolulu
- Is a sub-contracted evaluator for the Honolulu Regional office of the Veteran's Administration
- Earned certification as a Parent Trainer through the Family Education Centers of Hawaii located at the University of Hawaii
